LORRAINE SINGER
CERAMICS
01 about
"For me, the practice of making pots is immersive. From preparing the clay, throwing and finishing to glazing the finished article, the whole process brings a sense of calmness and joy. Taking inspiration from my natural surroundings, I create one-off pieces to be used and enjoyed around the home. I am intrigued by the possibilities of ceramic surface decoration and use a mixture of stoneware and home-dug, iron-rich clay, which adds texture and patina to the forms and glazes."
As an Art graduate, Designer and Art Director at several leading national magazines, I have had a long and rewarding career in graphic design. Throughout my working life, the use of space, colour and shape have played a central role in my work. Following a long hiatus in my professional and artistic journey prompted by the arrival of my children, I am now enjoying life as a full-time ceramic artist.
